As you go through this book, I have done my best to give you an outline of the home buying process, the people who will be involved, the part you will play, and the steps to get to the finish line. There are many, many, many variations on the process, and there will be many questions you will have along the way. My hope is that you will read this as a primer and then find and work with a realtor to help you through the process.
A realtor is a trained professional in the field of real estate and can be invaluable in the transaction as well as a valuable resource after the sale. Be sure to work with a good one. I have worked for over 30 years in all aspects of real estate and helped thousands of people buy their first home, their next home, and, in some cases, their last one. Every transaction is unique and has some challenges. Very few home purchases go exactly as planned with no issues. Rely on your team. Ask a lot of questions. Research. Drive neighborhoods. Don’t settle.
Your loan officer, realtor, home inspector, escrow offices, insurance agent, and many others are here to help you. Most of them hold a license. Most are excellent. In the end, the goal is for you to have a home to live in and love. Be patient as you go through the process as it may be all unknown to you. I assure you the system is not perfect, but it works. There will be mountains of paperwork. You will be asked to read and sign many forms and documents. Rely on your team to explain and help you.
